Talking, writing, educating, and change making in the field of fertility for more than twenty years

I spent Saturday at a woman’s fertility retreat. I kicked it off with a mind/body visualization of our female bodied reproductive center. The meditation I led was based on my audio CD, “Shameless Baby Making: Making Baby Sex Hot….Again.   But it’s about more than making baby making sex hot again, it’s about understanding baby making from a blood flow perspective!

I love re-connecting women to their bodies, especially when we are feeling disconnected and angry at our own beautiful selves. It’s really hard during infertility treatment to stay connected to this most sacred part of our selves – and the part of ourselves that we are wanting to work in it’s fullest power.  Baby making and boosting our fertility goes so much better when we can feel connect to our pelvis. I love calling this area our erotic landscape. It is a land that few women really understand. And if we cannot name our parts, it is hard to send our erotic landscape loving messages, and allow it to open to life flowing blood and engorgement.  Unfortunately, freezing our pelvic area does not help fertility. And conventional fertility treatments can put a deep freeze on our lower heater! It can actually slow down essential blood flow!

If you are trying to conceive, it is hard to miss the studies about the benefits of mind-body therapies when used with traditional western medicine for the treatment of infertility.

There is the science and then there are the real life patient testimonials.  There are touch therapies that use massage, reflexology, and acupuncture. A 2004 study published in Medical Study News reviewed  the newest touch therapy called the Wurn Technique.  The study showed a 71 percent pregnancy rate within one year of the receiving the treatment.

I found a 2008 review of a randomized controlled trials from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore which reported that acupuncture significantly improved pregnancy rates resulting from the embryo transfer process.  The belief around the success of touch therapies is that they reduce stress and MOST importantly they improve blood flow,  as well as balance the body’s energy flow, and reduce cortisol levels.

I believe that you can do a lot of this on your own. This is why I created the mind/body meditation Making Baby Making Fun Again…in this mediation you learn to understand your parts, and increase blood flow as you reduce stress.

Recently, I was a guest on The WISH Summit (Women’s International Summit For Health)  where I spoke on “Unleashing The Power of Your Pelvis”.  You can do this all by yourself in the privacy of your own home. Of course you can add in touch therapies, but you can do a lot all about yourself. First you have to understand your body and the power of your pelvis. Then you need to be able to see it, name it, and open your body to blood flow. You can do this.

And even if you are already doing IVF and other assisted reproductive technologies, embryos like to land in a place full of blood. You can help create your womb, and add the magic touch to western medicine.
