I have created educational fertility patient events for what feels like a life time. But for many people twenty years is a life time! I have participated and created in person events, support groups, symposiums, fertility and adoption health fairs, and on line meetings.
I can’t help myself in having my own personal set of biases around these types of meetings. I still believe that face to face in person fertility meetings are the best. There is nothing like sitting in front of a world class physician and getting access to information. It’s an opportunity worth getting into your car for. It is often at these type of “Old Fashioned” infertility patient seminars that patients really get the information that they need. It is also an opportunity to ask your questions one on one in a way that “on line” just doesn’t match.
I haven’t run one of these meetings since I left The American Fertility Association, or talked at one since I help open the recent patient meeting for Fertility Ties in NYC. It was a small gathering – but we helped people – and it felt great to touch people’s lives in such a direct way.
I am so excited that I am helping to run a patient event again – and that I will be speaking alongside of a physician that I deeply admire, Dr. David Kreiner.
